Roadmap to Next Release (r470)
Hey guys,
The last release was r189, and it's about time for a new one.
What's left to do for the next release (tentatively in the mid 500s)?
Not a whole lot. In fact, the only remaining task is documentation. We need to make sure that the code style changes are propagated through the docs.
I just finished updating lessons 1-5. I'll continue to putter along, but if anyone is willing to help out and look at the other chapters in the docs, it would speed things up quite a bit.
Once we get this next release out and it stabilizes, we will have a series of smaller releases leading up to 1.0. Once we hit 1.0 we will turn on the PR faucet and start reaching out to the greater Flash game dev community!
If anyone is willing to volunteer to help proof-read the manual, I would love to work with you. Volunteers to help clear out the remaining bugs in the issue tracker would also be very exciting.
Thanks,
Ben

Re: Roadmap to Next Release (r450?)
Did some proofreading and checked it in with r439.
Lesson .zip's downloads are more up to date, with a publishing target in build.xml
Culled an old (and now redundant) "getting started" guide for CS4, as well as the old lesson .pbepkg files
Reviewed a few of the manual chapters -- 04-Components, Index, and Overview
Nothing huge, but it's a start.
Totally looking forward to getting r450 out the door!

As Wazoo noted, there is a shortcoming in the docs for FlashDevelop. Logged with Issue 89.

Will there be another packaged release before 1.0? Or is r245 the last one?

This might not be relevant to the release, but what's the status of the Editor component? The beta version was released back in April and now with .pbeproj getting ditched the Editor beta is utterly incompatible with the current PBE.

Re: Roadmap to Next Release (r450?)
This release (probably more like r500 at the rate commits are happening
) will be a packaged release. We (PBL people) are currently hard at work on a short term contract; when that is done we will spend some time on this.
The editor is not on the roadmap for version 1.0. If you are interested in working with us on it to get it done sooner, shoot me an e-mail. ben DOT garney AT gmail DOT com. We do support other editors (like tiled for the platformer kit).

Platformer kit? Is that an upcoming thing? Couldn't find anything about that on the site or the forums.
I'm probably not one to help with the creation of the editor at this point, as I'm only just getting familiar with the engine.

We haven't announced it yet because it isn't done, but it's being written by HanClinto, based on his Mine Enemy platformer. I've probably said too much already.
