SDK version 36 released!

Postby bengarney on Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:08 am

Hey guys,

Version 36 of the SDK is available!

You can get it at http://pushbuttonengine.googlecode.com/ ... ne-r36.zip or via SVN (http://code.google.com/p/pushbuttonengi ... e/checkout).

The changelist:

  • Includes compiled SWCs to make it easier to use Flash CS IDE and FlashDevelop IDE.
  • Removed dependencies on Flex, you can now compile via pure .as (and save about 200kb).
  • Input management for components is now much better, see InputMap class for details.
  • Contributions from community member HanClinto: Scripts for generating docs on OS X and Fixed issue #16: Annoying scroll bars in Scene2DComponent.
  • Major doc improvements.
  • Added support for enumerations in the serializer.
  • Enhanced the TwoDRenderer: tracks objects more cleanly, added an animation component, and a SceneView Flex element for rendering.
  • Fixed issues 7,8,11,14,15,17,19.
  • Enhanced ProjectManager, now it is better about asking where the Flex SDK is, and it also generates better Ant build.xml files.
  • Replaced the unanimated crocodile in the demo application with an animated poser dude.

Of course, you should read the SVN commit log if you want full details.

Hopefully this fixes many small issues for everyone.

Please post any questions/comments/complaints/kudos relating to this release right here in this thread!

Thanks,

I downloaded it from http://pushbuttonengine.com/download/, but the file is PushButtonEngine-r17.zip which was the previous release, right? What did I do wrong?

Shucks, you're right.

Get it at http://pushbuttonengine.googlecode.com/ ... ne-r36.zip for now. :(

Is there a way I can compile with flash IDE ? Can you provide a quick tutorial for that. I have a osx/textmate/flash IDE (just for compiling). I want to be able to use trace(). Is that possible?

Thanks for the helps :)
- Ops it brokes, I have no idea what's going on. Maybe we should release this feature in the next version, ahem.

To be completely honest, this hasn't been tested with the Flash IDE yet. All we did was remove some of the Flex library dependencies, so it should work. I haven't used the Flash IDE in a while, so I'm not sure exactly how to do things. I'm assuming all you need to do is tell it where to find the engine swc files.

Adam is right - you just need to put the SWCs in the Library folder into the Flash IDE class path (either by copying or by setting it in the IDE). We haven't gotten it to the point where it's super easy, but it should let you use all the PBEngine APIs from inside Flash now.
