PushButton Engine 1.0

Postby bengarney on Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:46 am

Hey guys!

PushButton Engine 1.0 is up, and we are officially out of beta. 1.0 is revision 958 for those keeping score.

You can get it on the download page. You can also check it out from SVN by following the instructions on our Google Code site.

This is a soft launch for now to make sure we have worked out the kinks. I will be announcing it at Flash Gaming Summit tomorrow, and after the show, hopefully posting a blog about it. The docs on the site will also update soon to reflect 1.0. So for now, just get the latest version, take a look, and see if it works for you. Feedback is always welcome, good or bad. Once we have a little bit of good feedback, we'll start making some noise. :)

A big thank you to the community for making this 1.0 release possible. The last nearly one thousand revisions have taken a lot of blood sweat and tears to make real. You guys rule!

WOO HOO! I'm pumped!

PBE has grown and become much more than I imagined it would 1 year ago.

Thanks Ben and PBL for the massive effort!

Way cool to see pbe all grown up! I've been away for ages on other projects which has made me appreciate just what a good piece of code it actually is. All the best! ;)

Revision 958! Wow! At the heart of our racing game we're using revision 250 or something like that and it's allready been a big help!

Gratz for getting out of beta an I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the attention you deserve! :)

Re: PushButton Engine 1.0 - tutorial errors

Congrats, funny that I just found out about PBE as you were going 1.0 :P

I have been going through the tutorial lessons and have found some things that have changed. I'm currently stuck on Lesson #3, any help is appreciated!

Lesson #2:
* had to change Global.startup(this) to PBE.startup(this)
* had to add import com.pblabs.engine.*; to get the PBE symbol

Lesson #3:
* same items as lesson #2
* currently stuck on what happened to "Scene2DComponent" - I'm assuming this was renamed/refactored?

Make sure the documentation you are using is from the latest download or from source... and not the documentation that is currently on PushButtonEngine.com.

The documentation on PushButton Engine's site has not yet been updated... so in the mean time, you must get it from the library download or source.
